Buying the House... Part 1

>> 7.09.2009

Update on my home buying process:

Step 1: Save. Save. Save some more.

Step 2: $8000 tax break? Perfect!

Step 3: Fill out online pre-approval request.

Step 4: Wait. Fill out online pre-approval request... again.

Step 5: Go into bank; ask how to get in touch with someone.

Step 6: Fill out another online form.

Step 7: Wait. Banker: "I've started working on it."

Step 8: Wait.

Home buying tip: Don't start the process at the last minute! Luckily, I have until December 1st. So far it has been a month of trying to get a meeting with someone :/.

She really wants her very own flowerbed to lay on!

Anyone else going through this?

What an exciting time! We bought last December so we missed the 8,000 deal. I'm so happy you're taking advantage of that!

Omg...we are having the most stressful time buying a house. We own our current tiny house, so no $8000 for us :( , and we're finally in escrow on a fantastic house, but the loan stuff is just about killing me. Plus I have fears that if everything actually goes through, it's really a little more than we can comfortably afford. I'm sure your process will go smoother.

@the undomesticated wife- Thanks! She thinks so too :).

@ashley morgan- I guess mine isn't stressful quite yet, but if things keep going this slowly I'll be really pressed to get everything finished. One of the bankers told me that they were all just swamped with people trying to take advantage of the deals (interest rates, lower house priceing, tax breaks, etc). Hopefully it will work out for both of us!
