Honest Scrap

>> 10.01.2009

I received not one, but two Honest Scrap awards last week! Someone was having a good week (me!). Anyways, I’d like to give a great, big shout-out to the rockin' blogs Small & Chic in Cville and Russett Street Reno for giving me the award. I’d also like to share a few details about the award:

*This award is bestowed upon a fellow blogger whose blog content or design is, in the giver’s opinion, brilliant. *When accepting this award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the person who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to the said person so everyone knows she/he is real.
*Choose a minimum of seven blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have seven. Show the blog names and links and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with the Honest Scrap award.

*List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then pass it on!

Now, for the ten honest things about myself:
1. I live in Texas and looove the warm weather (even on summer days when the temps are above 100 degrees).

2. I’m very picky when it comes to drinks… I hate tea, coffee, and most soda! I guess I’m lucky because it saves me a ton of cash when I go out to eat.

3. I’m the eldest of two (with a younger sister) and I totally have oldest child syndrome (eager to please and bossy)!

4. This post was actually about me ;).

5. I’m a pescatarian. That means fish only, folks.

6. I haven’t been more than an hour away from my home in all of 2009. It actually didn’t even bother me until I realized

7. My degree is in elementary education and I taught for a couple of years before deciding it wasn’t for me. Now, I’m so thankful for my quiet cubicle!

8. I’m the worst at going to get a haircut! Sometimes I’ll go over six months (eek). Really, it’s more laziness than thriftiness.

9. I love uniformity. When I was in middle school, I asked for matching white hangers and white towels for Christmas.

10. I’m seriously addicted to blogs. I love linking off of the comments and finding new blogs. I go to at least 5-10 new blogs each day and comment on probably 15-20 a day!

As for the seven blogs that I’d like to give props to; I wanted to highlight some fellow first-time homebuyers that blog their experiences:

1. just you wait! (bonus points for being a single female homebuyer like me)

2. Chadwell Chronicles

3. The Newlywed’s Paradise

4. McKinney Living

5. Natalie & Michael Make House

6. Ye Olde Brick House

7. Yours? Let me know if you’re a first-time homebuyer. I’d love to check your blog out!

We just closed on our house Monday. With all of the craziness trying to move in this week, I've neglected my blog. I'll be back to posting about the new house asap! I love reading your blog!

Hey thanks for the award! I am a single woman homebuyer as well. :)

I just got my keys yesterday, so it's all about cleaning for the next few days!

I will post my award and blog about it this evening. Gotta get back to work right now. :)

Good for you on being a pescatarian :o) I was a vegetarian for a little over a year, then backslid into eating fish (I love sushi)... then about 6 months ago I decided to eat chicken and turkey, but no mammals. I am holding to no pork or beef (if only they weren't so tasty). I haven't had a burger in more than two years. Hopefully it's helping the environment out a little!

@LizzieBeth- Doing anything first-time is always full of interesting stories and lessons. I'd say your blog is definitely worth checking out :).

@chacha- I did vegetarian for a couple of years and I finally switched over to fish for the past four. It was nice being able to watch the movie Food Inc. and not feel guilty about the whole free-range vs. caged animal debate!

Great blog. I can take so ideas from here for saving some money in these times. Love the ikea closet post. Sounds like something that would have happened to me. he!he!Would love for your input on my blog as I'm new to this. I chat about places we go, and I do spend to much money on coffee! Bad habit to get into.

Hi! I like your blog - I just stumbled upon it following a comment link from Young House Love.

My boyfriend and I are also first time homebuyers. We bought our place in July, and have been doing some renovations since then, with many more planned. Check out my blog if you're interested. Thanks!
