Thrifty Little Activity-- Book Signing
>> 10.12.2009
I love a good book signing! This weekend, I had the chance to go see the hilarious authors of Cake Wrecks as they were on tour promoting their new blog-based book about professional cakes gone wrong. There was free cake, a contest for best cupcake wreck-replica, and a Q&A with some behind-the-blog stories.
Some of my favorite contest entries:
The winner! Check out what the original should have looked like here.
While most signings don’t include miniaturized versions of cakes gone wrong, the Q&A sessions or readings are usually free to attend and great ways to spend a weekend afternoon or evening. As a bonus, you have the chance to add a little value to your copy of the author’s book by getting it signed. Books are some of the most affordable gifts out there, so giving a signed copy would be a great time expensive addition.
One of my favorite (and free) book events, Texas Book Festival , is just a couple of weeks away… yep, a weekend of free author talks and signings (jealous?). I’m sure I’ll start crossing a few people off of my holiday list then!
Do you ever go to book signings? Which authors have you met?

Haha this is great! Thanks for sharing the hilarity!
I just found out about this site and book the other day. I love it!
I'm so jealous you got to go to the tour! They aren't stopping anywhere near me, and I really wanted to make a mini-wreck :(
I;ll just live vicariously through you :)
I love Cake Wrecks! Ever since I found the blog a year ago I haven't stopped cracking up at the crazy cakes that get submitted. Jealous that you got to go!
