So... the bathroom project wasn't quite finished by Labor Day. I did a good bit of work on it, but I didn't get to the finish line...
You see, I was too busy getting engaged!

Mr. "Too Shy to Talk to a Hairstylist About a Bad Haircut" actually went to my parents that morning and asked for the permission to use a family ring to propose with. To make a sweet moment even sweeter, he made sure that we made it over to our favorite bench. Oh, and did I mention that he timed it all so that his mom would be in town for it? Yep, I found myself a winner!

I was SO SURPRISED! I never thought he would do it in public or that he would do it any time soon- my guess was that it would happen in December.

Don't worry, I did get back to work on the bathroom this morning so you can expect updates on that soon!

Just enjoy being engaged for a while... but when it does come time for wedding plans, I can't wait to hear them! I can't do much else in a thrifty way, but thrifty weddings - I can do!!

Congratulations! I assure you, a thrifty wedding is not only possible, but wonderful, in my opinion. Spending consciously forced to make a lot of decisions very carefully and ask for help from those around us. We ended up with a day that reflected our personalities and included a lot of our loved ones.

Oh my gosh, congrats! That is so exciting!! I love that you were totally surprised too. It was the same deal for me when Rob proposed. I thought it would happen but not so soon (or on that particular day). I'm so happy for you and can't wait to hear more about the frugal wedding plans. :)
